The Gerstner Exotics

These Exotic Hardwood chests are the first chests in our new Century Series Collection.

We are pleased to offer these new chests with your choice of interior felt colors and hardware options.  A craftsman from Gerstner will be hand selecting all Hardwood Lumber ordered from our supplier, to insure only the wood with the most figure in it is being used for each chest built.  Due to their custom nature please allow up to 3 months for delivery.

Kim is the only who picks out the exotic woods. Choosing these woods before they have gone though a finish planer (which shows the grain much clearer) can be a real art form.

Our supplier is nice enough to let Kim "cherry pick" the exotic woods from all the "best stuff" before they even offer these woods for sale to the public.

The following 3 chests are available to order in your choice of exotic woods.

92XL Pro Series I Chest        $2700.00
41D Classic Chest                   $1420.00
212 Treasure Chest                $1240.00

Please click on each link above for specifics on drawer configurations and sizing. Please note - these links do not show the exotic woods in that style. We can make exotics in other styles, please contact us for a quote.

When placing your order please specify felt color, your options are Black, Brown, Green or Red. Please also specify Polished Brass or Polished Nickel Hardware. The 92XL and the 41D chests are made without top corners – if you wish to add them please tell us at the time of your order.

Many people have asked about the hardness of the various species of woods shown below.
Here is some interesting facts regarding the woods we primarily use.

Janka Hardness is a test which measures the pounds of force it takes to drive a .44" diameter steel ball 1/2 its depth into wood.  These numbers are taken from various publications but principally are from the U.S. Forest Products lab.  The higher the number the harder the species.

Bubinga 1980
Moradillo 1780
Maple 1450
White Oak 1360
Walnut 1010
Cherry 950

When you are ready to place your order, please call (800) 888-5269 this is an order line only, all other inquiries will be directed to (937) 228-1662.

When ordering the Figured Maple please be sure to specify Birdseye or Curly Maple.

Please click on each picture to view the details about each wood species. Each of the woods is shown in a clear coat lacquer finish, which is the finish that we will be using.
